Bonsai Society of Portland – One of the most active clubs in the US. The BSOP promotes the art of bonsai through monthly mentorship and educational programs.

Corvallis Bonsai Society  – Bonsai meetings are held the 4th Wednesday each month, 7:00 p.m., at The First Alternative Co-op, located at 2855 NW Grant Ave. in Corvallis. The meeting room is located behind the co-op. Contact Marjorie Kinch –

Golden State Bonsai Federation – GSBF, Inc. is a non-profit educational organization which provides services and activities promoting the wonderful art of bonsai. GSBF is made up of member clubs in California and affiliate clubs in the adjoining States.

Bonsai Society of San Francisco – Great resource with enthusiastic members.

California Shohin Society – Every two years a Shohin Seminar is held in Santa Nella, California. Bonsai masters, teachers, and enthusiasts from all over the country donate their time to this event

Pacific Northwest Bonsai Clubs Association – Includes clubs from BC, Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

American Bonsai Society – Publishes American Bonsai Society (quarterly magazine), holds an annual convention and offers a database of all known bonsai clubs in the U.S.


Pacific Bonsai Museum  The Pacific Bonsai Museum features world-class bonsai from around the globe. Free and open to the public six days a week.

Japanese Garden in Portland, Oregon.  The Bonsai Society holds a yearly spring show in the pavilion.

Golden State Bonsai Federation Currently the GSBF maintains three Bonsai Collections. One in Northern California at the Bonsai Garden at Lake Merritt and one in Southern California at the Huntington Botanical Gardens and one located at the Shinzen Japanese Friendship Garden in Fresno, CA.

National Bonsai & Penjing Museum An internationally acclaimed collection of bonsai and penjing housed at the US National Arboretum in Washington DC.

The Japanese Garden Database A compendium of Japanese gardens around the world. While not strictly  bonsai, this is a great resource of inspiration for trees  and garden design. Filled with photos, links to Japanese gardens, links to sites featuring related topics.
